Six Lakes Virtual Tour

Scroll down to RSVP

Locked behind a chain-link fence in Hamden, Connecticut, are 102 acres of forested wetlands known as Six Lakes.

Join us for a virtual tour of this beautiful urban property to learn more about its past as an industrial site and current efforts to clean it up and transform it into a public park. Community organizer Justin Farmer will lead participants through a photographic tour of the property, sharing information about its past as a firing range and gunpowder storage site, its history of environmental racism, its ecological features, and its current status. Whether you missed the onsite perimeter walk of Six Lakes in November or you walked with us but want to learn more, this virtual tour will inspire you to dream with the Six Lakes Park Coalition of a day when the fences will come down and everyone will be able to enjoy this city oasis! A question and answer period will follow the virtual tour.

What – Virtual tour
When – Thursday, Jan. 25 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where – Zoom link provided upon registration.

The Six Lakes Park Coalition is a growing alliance of concerned neighbors and supporting organizations seeking to restore and conserve for public use the 102 acres of forest and wetlands in Southern Hamden commonly known as Olin Powder Farm. SLPC seeks both to ensure thorough remediation of site contaminants and to align the property’s eventual use with the needs and interests of the Newhall neighborhood and the wider Hamden community.
