Ella McGrail

New York Policy Coordinator

emcgrail@savethesound.org
(914) 381 3140

Ella works in Albany to support legislation that protects clean water, addresses climate change, and otherwise safeguards Long Island Sound and the wider environment. Advancing justice and equality through environmental activism is key to her work, not just from a moral standpoint, but because the most effective environmental policy is also fair and equitable policy. Ella first joined Save the Sound in early 2024 as the New York legislative policy intern and became a permanent employee later that year.

Ella grew up on the New Hampshire coast, where she developed a deep-rooted love for the ocean but also witnessed firsthand how pollution and climate change are impacting coastal communities and ecosystems. While attending Bard College in the Hudson Valley, Ella worked for the school’s sustainability office, where she engaged the student body in environmental activism and education. She received her Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy in May of 2024. Outside of work, Ella enjoys writing fantasy and children’s stories, exploring with her friends, and eating a lot of desserts.
