David’s advocacy work centers around communities with longstanding water pollution problems, with a focus on designated environmental justice communities. Through his grading work on the Long Island Sound report card and Beach Report, and in working alongside Save the Sound’s water quality team and Unified Water Study partners, David strives to put data to action that will tackle pollution with an eye towards long term solutions. He first joined Save the Sound in 2023 as the Seasonal Environmental Technician after working as a Seasonal Trail Maintainer with the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance.

David is from The Bronx, New York, where he has experienced the environmental injustices that have impacted so many communities around New York City. While he holds a degree in computer science and cybersecurity from Iona University, David wanted to pivot to a career in environmental science/justice to help push for the solutions and strategies that will prepare communities like his to deal with the effects of climate change. He is excited for the opportunity to advocate for the communities and projects that will hopefully bring long-term change to the region.

Outside of the office, David enjoys volunteering with local Bronx organizations, studying Bronx and Caribbean history, reading, cooking, hiking, and dabbling in astronomy and gardening/herbalism.
