Next Saturday, September 15, Save the Sound will celebrate our 10th year as the Connecticut coordinator of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup.
In its 27th year, International Coastal Cleanup brings volunteers together all around the world to clean up our coastlines. Last year alone, ICC brought together almost 600,000 volunteers who cleaned up 9,184,428 pounds of trash from 20,776 miles of coastline across the world.
In Connecticut last year, we brought together 2,655 volunteers for International Coastal Cleanup and our Coastal Cleanup program. These volunteers removed 29,210 pounds of trash from 54 miles of Connecticut beaches and riverfront.
