Save the Date! International Coastal Cleanup – September 20, 2014

Save the Sound staff are getting ready for the 29th annual International Coastal Cleanup! ICC kicks off September 20 this year, and will include several additional cleanups throughout the months of September and October.

For Save the Sound, it will be our 13th year as the Connecticut coordinator for Ocean Conservancy’s worldwide cleanup effort. We’re planning many volunteer events but we need your support to make this cleanup a real success. Help us protect the ocean we all love from pollution!

This year we want to mobilize people all along Connecticut’s coastal and inland shorelines to clean up our beautiful beaches.

Last year, Save the Sound brought together 1,554 volunteers who removed 8,756 pounds of trash from 44 Connecticut beaches and riverfronts across the state. This year we hope to get even more volunteers involved!

If you have questions and want to get involved, please email Save the Sound’s ICC Coordinator Mary at mklimasewiski@savethesound.org or call (203) 787-0646, x127.

To learn more about ICC 2014, you can visit Ocean Conservancy’s website.

We hope to see you at a coastal cleanup soon! Think globally and act locally by signing up to volunteer at a cleanup today!
