What: World Fish Migration Day: The Migration Celebration
The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut and the Long Island Sound River Restoration Network (RRN), a collaborative group of Connecticut and New York-based conservation organizations, are hosting an event to celebrate migratory fish, restoration of waterways and the people who protect them for World Fish Migration Day. The event also aims to raise awareness of one of America’s Most Endangered Rivers,” the Farmington River, where this event takes place.
The afternoon will include a walk along the Farmington River, a networking and social hour with refreshments and meals provided, and the premiere film screening and panel discussion of “Reconnected: Restoring the Rivers of Long Island Sound.” The mini documentary walks the audience through the RRN’s past, present and future stream barrier removal and river restoration projects.

Why: To raise awareness of the importance of Long Island Sound’s migratory fish populations, the threats that they face as they travel through the Sound and its tributaries, and the organizations who are working to protect them.
Who should attend: Anyone who cares about Long Island Sound, its waterways and the wildlife that depend on them. Attendees will be a combination of expert conservationists, advocates and dam removal engineers as well as community members, non-experts and conservation storytellers. We ask all attendees and members of the press to register on Eventbrite.
