Save the Sound statement: Long Island Sound funding in 2021 Federal Budget

“Save the Sound is overjoyed by the recent Congressional approval of $30.4 million in the 2021 federal budget for the protection and improvement of Long Island Sound. This increase of $9 million from last year clearly represents the commitment of our great representatives in NY and CT to our region. This funding will go towards restoration, water quality, climate action and resiliency, conservation, and environmental justice projects through organizations such as ours and many others.

“Heartfelt thanks go out to Senators Chris Murphy, Richard Blumenthal, Chuck Schumer, and Kirsten Gillibrand and to Representatives Rosa DeLauro, Nita Lowey, Joe Courtney, Jim Himes, Tom Suozzi, and Lee Zeldin for all of their advocacy and hard work in making this happen. We look forward to working with all of them in the coming year as we continue our mission to protect and preserve the environment for all residents of the Long Island Sound region to enjoy.”

Curt Johnson, President, Save the Sound
