Beaches Open: Westchester’s Long Island Sound Swim Alert for the Fourth of July Weekend, 2013

?????????????? July 7 update: Westchester’s Long Island Sound beaches are open today.

July 6 update: The beaches are open, the water is clean, the day is hot. Enjoy a swim!

July 5 update: The beaches are open! Cool off with a swim in Long Island Sound.

Westchester’s Long Island Sound beaches are open for swimming today, the Fourth of July, 2013. Enjoy the water!

We are providing these swim alerts for Westchester because pollution frequently leads to swimming bans on Long Island Sound beaches.

Last  week the Natural Resources Defense Council released its annual “Testing the Waters” beach report, documenting just how frequent and widespread the problem is. You can read our blog post about it here.
