INSURANCE CLAIMS & DISASTER ASSISTANCE
Tips from the CT Insurance Department on filing storm damage claims
FEMA has declared Connecticut’s Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties, New York’s Westchester, Rockland, Nassau and Suffolk counties, and all boroughs of New York City as disaster areas, with eligibility for assistance. Residents and business owners who sustained losses in these counties can begin applying for assistance by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (hearing and speech impaired residents can call the TTY line at 1-800-462-7585). The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice.
Officials will be touring Connecticut’s Litchfield, Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties to determine eligibility. Meanwhile, residents and businesses in those counties should dial 2-1-1 or visit www.211ct.org to report their damage.
