Last week, we, along with Soundkeeper and the Conservation Law Foundation, announced that we filed lawsuits against eight Connecticut companies who are allegedly violating the Clean Water Act by illegally polluting Connecticut rivers and Long Island Sound.
Stormwater runoff is the fastest growing threat to clean water in Connecticut and industrial sites discharge some of the most polluted and toxic stormwater. We are seeking to hold the alleged polluters accountable and bring them into compliance for cleaner and healthier Connecticut rivers and Long Island Sound.
These suits were filed in accordance with a provision of the Clean Water Act that allows citizens to file suit directly against entities when there are alleged violations of the Clean Water Act.
